At Mission Health Communities, we believe that caring for our team is just as essential as the care we provide for our residents. Here, it’s never “just a job”—it’s a meaningful career supported by opportunities to grow, achieve, and thrive. That’s why we’re so proud to offer not one, but two nursing scholarships grounded in our CARES values: Character, Attitude, Respect, Excellence, and Service

We celebrate achievements.
We champion career growth.
And we cultivate a workplace where every team member feels valued, respected, and empowered to make a difference—every single day.

Recently, Avila University in Kansas City announced the winners of its prestigious Patterson Rural Nursing Scholarship—a full-ride Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Out of 12 incredible applicants, eight of the scholarship recipients are part of our Mission Health family—Directors of Nursing, Assistant Directors of Nursing, and regional team specialists.

We are deeply grateful to Avila University for opening this door for our team members to expand their expertise, strengthen leadership skills, and elevate the care they provide to residents.

The scholarship’s flexible RN-to-BSN pathway blends online learning with hands-on clinical experiences, held either on the Avila campus or in community settings. This design makes it possible for our DONs, ADONs, and RNs to continue excelling at work while pursuing their degrees—proving that professional advancement and work-life balance can go hand in hand.

Congratulations to our Mission Health scholarship recipients:

  • Amanda Blundell – Oswego – ADON-RN
  • Ambeur Hill – Kansas – Education Specialist
  • Evelyn (Jessica) Tinsley – Kansas – Sr. Education Specialist
  • Martha Roenne – Smith Center – DON
  • Nicole Davis – Spring Hill – DON
  • Tatum Martinez – Lincoln – RN
  • Timmi McNeal – Spring Hill – CRC-RN
  • Tonia Middleton – Downs – DON

We also extend our best wishes to the additional Mission Health applicants who remain in the approval process, as we look forward to celebrating their success in the near future.

We are also excited to share another exceptional opportunity—The Paris Girginis Nursing Scholarship—created in honor of Paris Girginis, our Vice President of Reimbursement and Innovation. Paris has made an extraordinary impact on Mission Health and the healthcare industry, and this scholarship pays tribute to his commitment to excellence, innovation, and the future of nursing.

Awarded annually, this $1,000 scholarship supports Mission Health nurses currently enrolled in school, helping them take the next step in their professional journey. It reflects the very heart of our CARES values, recognizing those who demonstrate outstanding Character, Attitude, Respect, Excellence, and Service as they pursue their goals.

At Mission Health, we know that when we invest in our people, we invest in brighter futures—for our residents, our communities, and the nursing profession itself. These scholarships aren’t just financial awards; they’re celebrations of passion, dedication, and heart.

To each of our scholarship recipients, we are so proud of you. Your commitment to learning, growing, and caring will ripple far beyond your own careers, leaving a legacy of compassion and excellence in every life you touch.

Stay tuned for more Mission Health stories of career growth, opportunity, and success—we’re just getting started.
