Big things are happening in Yates Center—and it’s all about rebuilding, renewing, and looking ahead with hope. After the devastating grass fire earlier this year, which completely destroyed Yates Center Health and Rehab, our community has rallied together in the most inspiring way. While the loss of the building was heartbreaking, the quick thinking and heroic efforts of staff and emergency responders ensured that every resident made it out safely.
Now, we’re turning the page and starting an exciting new chapter. Plans are in motion to rebuild a beautiful, modern skilled nursing facility right here on the same site we’ve always called home. From updated designs to thoughtful new features, this is more than a construction project—it’s a symbol of strength, resilience, and our commitment to care.
Behind the scenes, some incredible local partners are helping bring our vision for the new Yates Center Health and Rehab to life. NSPJ Architects, based right here in Kansas, is leading the design process—crafting a space that’s not only modern and efficient, but also warm, welcoming, and purpose-built for senior care. From resident comfort to staff workflow, every detail is being thoughtfully considered.
Once the design is finalized, another trusted local partner, Snyder Construction Group, will begin building from the ground up. Their reputation for high-quality craftsmanship and community-centered work makes them the perfect fit for this meaningful project.
We’re also continuing our long-standing partnership with Direct Supply to ensure our equipment, furnishings, and care technology are top-of-the-line and support the highest standards in safety and resident experience. Together, these teams are helping us create a space that reflects the future of senior care—while honoring everything that made Yates Center feel like home.
Our Administrator, NiCole Splechter, shared:
“We are beyond excited about the progress being made for Yates Center. It has been incredible to see how well the residents have adjusted and how they continue to thrive in their new surroundings.
Our Yates Center team members who have continued serving at our sister communities have shown such resilience and dedication. We’re also incredibly grateful to the receiving communities and their teams for welcoming us with open arms and helping make this transition as smooth and supportive as possible. The sense of community and support has really made all the difference.
We’re looking forward to what’s ahead for our Yates Center family. With the new build, we’re excited to carry forward the same level of care excellence we are known to provide while embracing innovation and welcoming advancements that help us grow and adapt for the future of senior care.”
This commitment to excellence isn’t new for Yates Center. Even amidst the challenges of the past year, the team’s hard work and unwavering dedication were recognized with the Mission Health Silver Quality Award—a testament to the high standards of care, teamwork, and leadership that define our community.
It’s moments like these that remind us what truly makes Yates Center special: the people. The spirit of teamwork, resilience, and compassion is stronger than ever, and we can’t wait to welcome residents, families, and staff back to a space that reflects all that we’ve overcome—and all that lies ahead.
