A new year means new opportunities for growth and achievement! At Mission Health, we believe in creating pathways for our employees to shine, rewarding their dedication, and inspiring them to build brighter futures.
One of the most impactful aspects of Mission Health is the opportunity for growth within our organization. Our leadership team is deeply committed to recognizing individuals who excel in their daily roles, show respect for their colleagues, embody our CARES values, and create a positive Mission Experience for residents and families. For those ready to take the next step in their careers, Mission Health provides the tools, support, and recognition needed to thrive.
Pioneering a New Chapter in Dietary Excellence
Director of Food Hospitality and Nutrition, Catrisse Alvord, is starting 2025 with an exciting initiative aimed at fostering professional development, enhancing employee retention, and celebrating the dedication of her team. She is piloting a Dietary Staff Career Ladder in eight communities, a program designed to elevate career opportunities for dietary staff and reinforce Mission Health as a preferred employer in the industry.
“I am beyond excited to pilot this new program,” says Catrisse. “I believe it will set Mission Health apart by providing meaningful opportunities for career growth while ensuring our residents’ dietary needs are met with excellence and care.”
This program emphasizes the importance of building strong connections with residents, as these bonds create trust and confidence that their nutritional needs are met with love and attention. “With this program, we will supply our staff with opportunities to grow within the company—whether it’s mastering food safety, refining culinary skills, or developing leadership abilities. There will be something for everyone,” Catrisse adds with enthusiasm.
DiscoverU: Elevating Leadership Across All Levels
While the Dietary Staff Career Ladder marks an exciting new chapter, Mission Health has long been a leader in offering career advancement programs. DiscoverU, our leadership development program, empowers employees at all levels to grow their leadership capabilities and business acumen. This leadership effectiveness training deepens expertise in strategic leadership, operational excellence, community engagement, and team empowerment.
Through monthly one-hour Zoom sessions, participants connect, collaborate, and learn cutting-edge leadership techniques. The result? Stronger, more confident leaders are equipped to make a meaningful impact within their communities.
Building Bonds Through Mentorship
Another cornerstone of career development at Mission Health is the Make a Friend Mentorship Program. This program helps new hires feel welcome, confident, and prepared to succeed. Mentors are carefully selected by their administrators and peers for exemplifying our CARES values—Character, Attitude, Respect, Excellence, and Service.
“Being a mentor is a perfect opportunity for me to embody our CARES values and set the standard in my community for those who may follow in my footsteps,” says William Wilson, a Certified Medical Aid and Mentor from Jesup Health and Rehab.
The program’s goals include increasing mentees’ professional confidence, fostering feelings of empowerment and belonging, and encouraging collaboration across disciplines. By providing unwavering support and guidance, mentors prepare their mentees to thrive and succeed.
Unlocking New Horizons Together
At Mission Health, our employee recognition and career advancement programs continue to grow in popularity, and we couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead. With the launch of the Dietary Staff Career Ladder, we’re looking forward to seeing its impact and how it motivates others across Mission Health Communities to take bold steps in their own careers.
As we begin 2025, we encourage every member of our Mission family to seize the opportunities available, embrace growth, and unlock new horizons. Together, let’s continue making a difference—for our residents, our teams, and our future. The best is yet to come!
A new year means new growth opportunities! One of the biggest benefits within Mission Health is growth within the organization.
